U.S. Ambassador to Singapore, Anjani Sinha, arrived in Singapore to assume his post, expressing his desire to promote cooperation with Singapore in areas such as energy, technology, and security.
Sinha arrived in Singapore on Thursday (November 6) to assume his post. In a statement released through the U.S. Embassy in Singapore that day, he said, “I am deeply honored to serve as the U.S. Ambassador to Singapore. Singapore is a friend of the United States, a premier hub for American businesses, and a pillar of regional stability.”
He said, “President Trump has asked me to elevate our cooperation with Singapore based on mutual respect and shared priorities. I am particularly eager to cooperate with Singapore in areas such as technology, energy, and security.”
Sinha, 76, was born in India and graduated from Mahatma Gandhi Medical College and Delhi University with a doctorate. For decades, he has specialized in orthopedics and sports medicine and is also a successful entrepreneur, operating clinics in eight locations in New York City.
Sinha’s wife, Kuntala Sinha, is a retired anesthesiologist who worked at New York University for nearly 50 years. The couple has one daughter, one son, and three grandchildren.

In March, Trump announced on social media his nomination of Sinha as U.S. Ambassador to Singapore.
The U.S. Senate held confirmation hearings in July for the nomination of Sinha to the ambassadorship and other diplomatic posts. Sinha stated at the time that he was born in India and has a deep understanding and respect for the cultures, people, and values of the Indo-Pacific region.
He emphasized, “Close cooperation with Singapore, and with other allies and partners in the Indo-Pacific region, is more important than ever.”
He also stated that if appointed U.S. Ambassador to Singapore, he would be committed to advancing U.S. policy and promoting U.S. interests. He also looked forward to expanding and deepening U.S.-Singapore defense and security cooperation, trade relations, and people-to-people exchanges.
In early October, the U.S. Senate confirmed Sinha as Ambassador to Singapore by a collective vote.
The U.S. Embassy in Singapore said in a statement on Thursday that Sinha's appointment reflects the United States' commitment to working with Singapore on shared goals of prosperity and security.
