The annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade took place in New York City on Thursday (November 27), with giant cartoon Mario balloons (pictured) floating in the Manhattan skyline, attracting millions to line the four-kilometer parade route for the more than three-hour-long celebration. This annual parade, hosted by Macy's department store, began in 1924. Macy's said the parade featured more than 5,000 volunteers, 34 giant balloons ranging from two to four stories high, 28 floats, 33 clown troupes, and 11 brass bands. (AFP)
