October 30th - In an NBA regular season game, the Lakers defeated the Timberwolves 116-115 on the road, thanks to Austin Reeves' buzzer-beating game-winner.
After the game, Lakers head coach JJ Redick spoke about Reeves in an interview.
"This guy is born for the big stage, I'm not surprised at all. He's done this many times in his career, and he's done it many times since I became the Lakers' head coach, so I'm comfortable giving him the ball in crucial moments and letting him make the decisions," Redick said.
"In my opinion, he's proven himself to be a tough player, and he did that last year. I think the whole league recognizes him as a very good player. Maybe some people will argue about which level he belongs to—I don't know, and I don't care. But last season, he definitely established himself as a tough player," Redick said.
"I think the most crucial thing is that he has become a team leader. He is one of the core leaders on the court—even the backbone. That's very important. That's exactly what we want, that's what we need him to do, and he has done it," Redick said.
Throughout the game, Reeves started and played 40 minutes, shooting 9-for-24 from the field, 3-for-11 from three-point range, and 7-for-7 from the free-throw line, scoring 28 points, 1 rebound, 16 assists, and 2 steals.
