NFL television broadcasting is a complex issue with a long and intricate history. Due to the blackout rule, different networks broadcast different games at different times and in different regions—this reflects the importance of "night games," a major national broadcast event, and explains why streaming giants like Amazon and Netflix are scrambling to get a share of the night game market. However, in some cases, regular-time games (Sunday afternoon games) are also broadcast nationally by CBS or Fox due to the high profile of the two teams, regardless of channel or region. So far in the 2025 season, there has only been one such game: the rematch of last season's Super Bowl in Week 2 (Philadelphia Eagles vs. Kansas City Chiefs).
