On October 18th, the Lakers lost to the Kings 116-117 in an NBA preseason game. After the game, Lakers coach JJ Redick spoke with reporters, stating that the team's starting lineups during the season are not permanent.
"I don't have a firm idea of who will be starting next season, as injuries and other situations can happen. I have a rough idea of what the starting lineup will be for Game 1, but it's less clear after that. However, I think this lineup gives Luka Dončić and Deandre Ayton plenty of shooters, and Vincent is a great ball-handler and defensive stalwart. I think he's a good fit, but we have to evaluate each opponent and make decisions accordingly."
On October 22nd, the Lakers will open the season against the Golden State Warriors.
