Just over two minutes into the game, rookie Bradley Nadeau opened the scoring with a powerful shot, his first NHL goal.
Defender Mike Reilly then scored on a rebound after being down a goal, extending the Hurricanes' lead.
Jordan Martinook followed with a putback to make it 3-0.
Solid Defense
In the second period, goaltender Brandon Bussi's solid performance ensured the team's stability. He made 26 of 28 saves, achieving a save percentage of .916.
Even more impressively, Bussi also provided an assist, earning his first career NHL point.

Jackson Blake received a precise cross from Taylor Hall and quickly slotted the ball home to make it 4-1.
Although the Islanders subsequently scored to narrow the gap, Andrei Svechnikov responded quickly with a beautiful feint, scoring again just 21 seconds later to bring the score back to three goals. This sealed the victory for the team.
In the final moments of the match, Nikolaj Ehlers assisted Logan Stankoven for the sixth goal, bringing the home team to a perfect close.
