October 20th: Rockets head coach Amy Udoka spoke today about the contract extension between the Rockets and forward Kevin Durant.
"When he first joined Houston, we both knew he wasn't going to be with the Rockets for a short time, and we hoped he'd finish his career here," Udoka said.
"Kevin is a pure basketball man; everything about him is about basketball. Our goal here is completely aligned, and that's to ultimately win a championship," Udoka said.
According to previous reports, Durant and the Rockets have reached a two-year, $90 million contract extension, with a player option for the 2027-28 season.
Durant could have signed a two-year, $120 million maximum contract extension with the Rockets, but he asked for $30 million less to allow for salary flexibility.
