November 26th - According to the Sports Business Journal, the Utah Jazz's home arena, the Delta Center, has implemented a new rule: fans will no longer be allowed to bring signs into the arena to watch games.
However, according to Brogan Houston of the Deseret News, Smith Entertainment Group believes this change is a "positive adjustment for most less radical viewers," citing relevant research as evidence. They did not "specify the reasons for this change," only stating that the goal is to "provide a positive viewing experience for as many fans as possible."
The Delta Center is not the only professional sports arena to implement a no-sign policy; Madison Square Garden adopted a similar rule several years ago. Other arenas have avoided potential problems by restricting the size and content of signs.
