December 15th News: According to ClutchPoints on Instagram, several prominent players this season are at risk of missing out on NBA awards.
The original text is as follows:
According to the rules, players who miss more than 17 games will be ineligible for the following awards: Most Valuable Player, Defensive Player of the Year, Most Improved Player, All-NBA Teams, and All-Defensive Teams.
Jaylen Williams, who was selected to both the All-NBA Team and All-Defensive Team last season, has already been ruled ineligible. LeBron James' record of 21 consecutive All-NBA selections is in jeopardy, and Victor Wembanyama may miss out on the Defensive Player of the Year award for the second consecutive year. In addition, players such as Trae Young, Tyler Herro, Domantas Sabonis, De'Aaron Fox, and LaMelo Ball are all currently at risk of or will soon reach the point of ineligibility.
The NBA implemented the 65-game rule to address load management issues, but now the rule is affecting players who may not meet the criteria due to genuine injuries, thus impacting their historical legacy and financial earnings. Should the rule be retained, adjusted, or the 65-game standard lowered?
