On October 19th, according to Shams Shams, Kevin Durant and the Rockets have reached a two-year, $90 million contract extension, with a player option for the 2027-2028 season.
Rockets reporter Jackson Gatlin then quipped:
As long as Durant and the Rockets aren't planning on "planting trees" (a reference to Leonard's alleged shady contract with a tree-planting company), this deal is a steal.
A hat tip to Durant—he took a contract significantly lower than the maximum salary to give the Rockets future salary flexibility.
