On October 19th, according to Shams Shams Aldridge, Kevin Durant and the Rockets have reached a two-year, $90 million contract extension, with a player option for the 2027-2028 season.
Durant could have signed a two-year, $120 million maximum contract extension with the Rockets, but he asked for $30 million less to maintain the team's salary flexibility.
Forbes Sports' Suns reporter Shane Young commented:
"At 37, Kevin Durant took the initiative to take a pay cut. He remains one of the league's most prolific scorers. This shows he's completely focused on playing and is willing to help Houston become a top-tier team."
"This contract extension is essentially a one-year agreement, which provides flexibility for both parties."
