On October 20th, the Indiana Pacers officially announced that they would waive guard Cameron Payne.
Afterward, Pacers coach Rick Carlisle spoke with reporters, stating that his relationship with Payne had not met expectations and that Quinton Jackson would not be able to play in time for the season opener.
When asked about the next steps, Carlisle quipped, "We're closely monitoring the layoff market, even looking at your nephews—we're casting a wide net."
The Pacers' regular season opener will be on October 24th against last season's champion Thunder.
