On October 21st, ESPN reporter Shams Charania reported that the Indiana Pacers and Aaron Nesmith have reached an early, two-year, $40.4 million contract extension.
This contract extends Nesmith's contract with the Pacers through the 2028-29 season and includes a trade guarantee.
Shams Charania stated that this contract is the highest extension the Pacers could offer.
Last season, Nesmith played in 45 regular season games with the Pacers, averaging 12 points, 4 rebounds, and 1.2 assists in 25 minutes per game, shooting 50.7% from the field and 43.1% from three-point range.
In the playoffs, Nesmith became one of the best defensive players on the Pacers. He played in 23 playoff games, averaging 12.7 points, 5.7 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 28.3 minutes per game, with a shooting percentage of 47.2% and a three-point shooting percentage of 49.2%. At the same time, Nesmith also had the highest three-point shooting percentage among players in the league who took more than 100 three-pointers in the playoffs last season.
