On October 23rd, the Mavericks lost to the Spurs 92-125 at home in the NBA regular season.
After the game, Mavericks forward Anthony Davis spoke about facing Victor Wembanyama in an interview.
"He's 7'3" (about 2.21 meters). When he's that tall, no one can block his shot. And he can jump high, so you just have to hope he misses," Davis said.
"I think he got our defense into foul trouble. Even though we have a lot of big guys on our team, his presence weakened our aggressiveness on that end," Davis said.
In the game, Wembanyama started and played 30 minutes, shooting 15-for-21 from the field, 1-for-2 from three-point range, and 9-for-11 from the free throw line, finishing with 40 points, 15 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, and 3 blocks.
Davis started and played for 32 minutes, making 7 of 22 shots, 2 of 4 three-pointers, and 6 of 6 free throws, scoring 22 points, 13 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals and 1 block.
