October 24th: The Trail Blazers announced earlier today that assistant coach Tiago Splitter will temporarily assume the head coaching position. They will not respond to further questions regarding Billups' alleged illegal gambling allegations.
Reporter Brenna Greene wrote about the situation at the Trail Blazers' facility today:
"This morning, the atmosphere inside the Trail Blazers' facility was filled with shock. Outside, many fans were waiting for players and asking for autographs, and a food delivery driver nearly walked into the building. As young rookie Hansen Young exited the facility and headed to his car, several media reporters were already waiting across the street."
According to previous news reports, Portland Trail Blazers coach Chauncey Billups, Heat player Terry Rozier and former NBA player and coach Damon Jones were arrested by the FBI on suspicion of illegal gambling.
