October 27th: Today, the Spurs' official account shared a photo of retired jerseys hanging above the team's home arena, including a banner for former coach Gregg Popovich.
Popovich has a total of 1,390 coaching victories, a win percentage of 62.8%, firmly ranking first in NBA history.
Team reporter Michael C. Wright posted the photo and wrote: "Popovich will never allow the Spurs to hold any ceremony to honor him for his contributions to the team and the city of San Antonio."
So, the Spurs chose the next best way to pay their respects.
